Frequently Asked Questions

HOW IS DR. NICE’S MOISTURIZING GEL DIFFERENT FROM OTHER VEGAN NIPPLE CARE PRODUCTS?

Pharmacist-formulated and trusted by lactation consultants worldwide, Dr. Nice’s Moisturizing Gel is the only all-natural, lanolin-free, water-based product that provides instant soothing, cooling relief.

HOW DO I USE DR. NICE’S MOISTURIZING GEL?

Use our gel on sore, cracked, chafed nipples just like you would a nipple balm, butter, cream or ointment.

Our dual-relief Moisturizing Gel can be used at room temperature but really works best when refrigerated or chilled in a cup of ice for at least one minute. Once cool, dispense a small amount of gel on your fingers and apply in a thin layer to affected area(s) as often as needed. There’s no need to wash off before breastfeeding.

When dry, the gel should be clear. If it has a white appearance, that’s a sign that too much gel was used. Simply wash off and reapply a smaller amount.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

– Water, USP Grade
Poloxamer | Hydrogel. Mixture of plant-based flavonoid poloxamers & fatty esters
Gluconolactone & Sodium Benzoate | Preservative that prevents contamination. Broad-spectrum antimicrobial made from corn; ECOCERT, WholeFoods and the European REACH regulation compliant as a preservative in certified organic cosmetics
– Mentha Piperita (Peppermint)

IS PEPPERMINT OIL SAFE FOR MY BABY?

Only when used in trace amounts to create peppermint water, like Dr. Nice’s Moisturizing Gel (our gel is water based).

According to research findings published in
International Breastfeeding Journal *, peppermint water was found to be:
– Safe for babies
– Soothing and calming
– Antimicrobial (prevents the growth of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi)
– Effective in the prevention of nipple crack

*‘Effect of peppermint water on prevention of nipple cracks in lactating primiparous women: a randomized controlled trial’, International Breastfeeding Journal , 2007.

HOW MUCH PEPPERMINT OIL IS IN DR. NICE’S MOISTURIZING GEL?

For every 1,000 ml of USP grade water, we add 2 ml of peppermint oil. This represents 1/5 of a percent, an amount too minuscule to have an effect on your baby.

YOUR PACKAGING LOOKS DIFFERENT. IS THIS THE SAME FORMULA?

YES! While we have a new company name – Dr. Nice’s Natural Products – and new, mess-free packaging that works when our gel is cooled and at room temperature, our patent-pending formula remains the same.

Patent-Pending Dual Relief Formula

Dr. Nice’s Moisturizing Gel transforms from a gel into a liquid (and then back to a gel) to provide two types of instant relief!

chilled

When chilled in a cup of ice or the refrigerator, our thick gel transforms into a thin, cool liquid that fills in cracks in the nipple to provide instant soothing relief and long-lasting protection.

*Apply in a thin layer; a little goes a long way!

body/room temperature

When the liquid returns to body/room temperature, it turns back into a gel that moisturizes and heals dry, cracked, chafed nipples, providing a protective layer.
